Sometimes, you smile just thinking of your clients and that's exactly how I feel about these two. The moment we met, it was game over for me. Not only are they both incredibly kind, they are also so intentional. Thus, their wedding was all about intention and transitions. We wanted their wedding to be about them- sure, but also about the community that surrounds them. We pulled in meaningful elements to celebrate the ones they hold so close.

Personal touches filled every moment. Breakfast and coffee greeted welcomed guests before a morning hike with the brides. During the outing friends and family gathered natural elements that were used to form a circle of love around the brides' private vow exchange.

In homage to Sarah’s alma mater, I found the most perfectly suited table cloth, the Voyager Patina from BBJ La Tovola featuring blue and yellow (Go Michigan!) in a plaid that sang to both Sarah and Ali. With Michigan’s football game playing at 1:00 on the day of their wedding, we set up a 60” flatscreen for fans to watch the game which added an element of camaraderie and got everyone in the partying spirit after they clenched the win.

With a same sex marriage, we wanted to breakaway from the traditional bride walking down the aisle to be given away. Thus, we created a two aisle ceremony for them to simultaneously walk down with their parents, meeting in the middle to start their marriage together.

Guests entering the dinner reception tent were met with personalized, handwritten notes from Sarah & Ali. We surprised Ali’s dad after their father-daughter dance with the Michigan fight song, which got everyone on their feet. The night peaked with confetti falling to Tegan and Sara’s “Come A Little Closer,” and ended with a joyous pride flag sendoff to “Hot To Go” that no one wanted to end. (Literally, we played it twice).

It was an unforgettable day filled with thoughtful planning and joyful celebration of community, love, and the incredible journey of two people finding one another in this crazy world.
